Considering the Wesley's.

I have been studying a variety of the early protestant reformers, and or evangelical influences of the past. Two particularly powerful evangelists, teachers and pioneers of the Protestant church were John and his brother Charles Wesley. Both of whom had a predominant part to play as the Protestant reformation developed.

Their zeal and evangelism definitely affected Europe as well the United States. With churches being started in a variety places because of their work and efforts. John's Standard Sermons are drawn upon by the Methodist, Nazarene and Wesleyan churches for much of their doctrinal standards. These  men came out of the culture of the Church of England, and had respect for its roots. However, saw grace and holiness in a more definitive or personal manner to be expressed.
Their influence should be considered insightful and relevant in the development of evangelical thought in the church. As they truly were tremendously powerful in their influencing the evangelical Protestant movement.

Wesley's 52 Standard sermons and notes can be found online for study. With a nice layout to really get into the meat of the sermons. I also have found a recent book by Adam Hamilton entitled " Revival " an invaluable tool in understanding the Wesley's background, history and ministry as a whole. It is also a very relevant book for anyone trying to understand the concept of revival to.

I challenge you to consider a study of the Wesley's its quite illuminating and thought provoking.

Keeping You In The Loop.
April 3rd, 2015

We are developing a variety of new courses that we hope to unveil in a few short months. Some of them will be long term within our school cycle, the others short term courses of study. The manuscripts and study guides are in the making, and we hope that you will find them quite profitable to take advantage of in the months to come.

We also will shortly introduce some short term courses that will be a one time certificate course of study available to any of our students, FGRMC ministers, etc.. I believe they will be timely and helpful in your ministry, as well personal bible study. Please be checking the website to register and become a part. The full course will only be 75.00, and that will include study guide, exams and certificate of completion. We hope many of you will want to be a part of this new ministry at FBC.

God bless you all richly,
Dr. Patrick Vossen

The Passion And Me.

Here are the events concerning the Passion Week and one of my favorite old hymns concerning Calvary.

The sacrifice of our Lord at Golgotha and its impending repercussions after the resurrection. Have caused many to look at this man Jesus in an extraordinary fashion. Some saying he just a prophet, others an impostor, but for millions both Saviour and Lord. How you view him is no doubt influenced by a variety of factors, but what I hope and pray is that you will get to know him this Passion week in a personal way. Giving him the opportunity to touch your life today and forevermore in a profound way. With his love reaching out to you in a special way, as it has for all of us for over 2,000 years.

We here at FBC wish you all a wonderful Easter weekend in the Lord's presence.

In His Grace,

Dr. Patrick Vossen
