Two Items To Prayerfully Consider.

I would like to put together for our students a reading library recommendation list. One for each level of degrees we offer. Bible & Theology, Bible & Praise & Worship, Christian Counseling, etc.. If you have a couple of books you have considered invaluable, or that which you wish you had considered during your early years of ministry. Please, pass them along to me if you can. I will try to compile and consolidate a list for your students.

On another item of interest, I have been challenged by our esteemed General Bishop to organize a Focus Bible College sponsored conference. I am beginning to pray and consider this, and hope to enlist brethren within and without the fellowship of FGRMC to help. I know our folks at CGMF will of course listen to their pastor and assist, but I need everyone’s prayers. Thanks ahead of time, its only in the embryonic stages, but please remember this petition in prayer.

Blessings to you all on this wonderful day.

In His Grace,
Dr. Patrick Vossen

I took a two-year ministry course, and my project was on worship and the prophetic. I think the best book I read on worship was Following the River, by Bob Sorge. It is a short book, but in a concise way it presents a vision for worship that is grounded in relying upon the Holy Spirit. As a missionary, I would like to suggest the short biographical book Bruchko. I believe Bruce Olsen's work marked a turning point between missionaries Westernizing people in other cultures and missionaries blending in with the existing culture and bringing Jesus with them. I believe another shift is beginning to take place that I'm personally excited about wherein missionaries and nationals acknowledge the weaknesses and cultural strongholds of both sides and work together to build a third culture - a Kingdom culture I would be excited about talking about something related to any of these topics at a prospective conference!
